Securing Your Personal Windows Device For Use at the IHP/MGB

The following steps are required for personal devices used for MGB purposes.

1. Upgrade to Windows 11 Pro

MGH Institute and MGB policy is that windows devices run Windows 11 Professional. If you are on the “Home” edition of Windows, you will need to upgrade to the Pro version. The Windows Pro version is used to leverage Microsoft’s encryption software Bitlocker which isn’t available on “Home” edition.

2. Turn on BitLocker to encrypt your device

IHP/MGB requires devices used for MGB purposes to be encrypted. On Windows, encryption is done through Bitlocker.

3. Enroll in Intune

Intune is the mobile device management system (MDM) used by MGB.

4. Install CrowdStrike

Crowdstrike is an anti-malware detection application used by MGB.

5. Use the Secure Wi-Fi network

The secure wireless network on campus is called phswifi3. This is the network you should use while on site.
